I see there are TONS of people upset because this one particular quest within the DLC has a glitch wherein you cannot defeat Miraak, which essentially stalls the game. There are message boards where players have attempted ways around the glitch, some have managed it, others (like me) haven't.

I bought this DLC the day it came out and I still see NO patch to fix this issue. There has been no public statement from Bethesda, no patch available...? Bethesda needs to address this or I want a refund.

I sent them an email and hopefully, they will respond. I'm not holding my breath, however.

Monetary Loss: $19.

The solution to this problem for me was to open the console, click on Miraak and type: resethealth That will make his health unstuck and be completely restored and thus continue the DLC. Hope it helps.

Is this just me or is it everyone? When I went to first read the black book nothing happened. :?

I had the same issue...I just let my game run for half an hour while I sat on my phone playing mobile games until it finally started to do something...and actually, I recall it doing it a couple other times afterwards, not as bad but maybe.

If you killed the Dragons while fighting merack that is why the game stalls. You're not meant to kill the Dragons.

Bethesda is in my black list now.

I remember the days when people attempted to sound intelligent when making an argument.

Today I received an update about this glitch from Bethesda in response to my query:

โ€œWeโ€™re definitely aware of the glitch, and we havenโ€™t denied the issue at all. The issue that you are experiencing is a known issue and we are working diligently to fix it in upcoming patches.

Unfortunately at this time we do not have an ETA on when the next patch will be deployed. Aside from loading a previous save file prior to reaching that point in the quest and trying again (which we understand doesnโ€™t always work in the case of this particular bug), the best thing to do at this point would be to keep an eye on our forums, as this is the best source of information for emerging issues and patch information.โ€

I appreciate the community effort to assist in fixing this bug but the bottom line is that there are indeed two separate glitches going on, and that fact should be understood before wasting any time trying to bypass the bug.

Firstly Iโ€™m really , really disappointed in Bethesda for not even acknowledging the bug/glitch in the Miraak boss battle on their support or community forums. That is the most basic form of customer / public relations. People spent good money on this game and then spent real-life hours only to reach what could be an insurmountable glitch without a Bethesda patch.

As many of the other threads around the web note, the worst of the two glitches occurs when you install the DLC before installing the most recent skyrim patch. The order of the installation actually matters. Installing the DLC and THEN patching the game with the most recent patch actually breaks those boss scripts. The clearest indicator of this was that you probably werenโ€™t able to find the boat after you first installed the DLC until you patched the game. Most likely you spent a while searching the docks and waiting to be visited by the cultists etcโ€ฆRemember that? When this didnโ€™t happen thatโ€™s when you most likely patched your game. If this scenario sounds familiar you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KILL Miraak no matter what you do. Smaller weapons, killing/not killing dragons, invulning, insta-blinking him- none of this matters. What will happen repeatedly is that you will absorb the dragons souls instead of Miraak , causing him to keep invluning. I even tried to do the hide trick (if you hide long enough heโ€™ll exit his invlun stage) but it doesnโ€™t matter either- because heโ€™ll keep going back into invuln every time you attempt to kill him. He HAS to absorb the dragon souls or the boss battle cannot end.

The other scenario is that you DID install the patch before the DLC. In this case your glitch is less serious. You can just dicker around with highly nerfed attacks until he dies. Itโ€™ll take longer , just watch how hard you hit him.

Thatโ€™s it. Basically scenario 1 folks are going to have to wait for a patch or alternately UNINSTALL the whole DLC and start from scratch from the beginning of the DLC. Iโ€™m not willing to do that. Iโ€™m hoping people will give Bethesda *** until they release a statement. And thatโ€™s really all theyโ€™d have to do to help their customers out is give them an idea of when there will be a patch and let us know theyโ€™re actually working on one. Iโ€™m really appalled that they havenโ€™t done this small thingโ€ฆ really- how hard is that?

It's obvious the people who list this main comment as b.s. never had the issues that this player and I had with the Miraak glitch.

It's not b.s. After spending days and several hours trying to get past this glitch, there is little to nothing we can do to get past Miraak. Now ask yourself how upset you would be if you pay 20$ for a DLC and can't get past it because the boss just becomes a ghost and you can't defeat him. I don't hate Bethesda.

I think their games are EXCELLENT> But I do think they need to make a patch for this *** Dragonborn DLC.

I don't like not being able to finish my DLC game because of this patch that obvious so many others have the same problems with. Please fix this patch soon and I will be happy.
